Sudden Recipes: The Sudden Soda

by August 16, 2017

It’s sort of like iced coffee, sort of like coffee flavored LaCroix. One of my favorite things about Sudden is it’s versatility. Our latest blend, Fore!, is amazing over ice with a little bit of cream- but if you want to try something entirely new, try mixing your Sudden with sparkling water!

It’s long been de rigueur to serve a glass of sparkling water alongside a shot of espresso, but what about sparkling coffee? The “espresso soda” was first invented in Calabria in Southern Italy in 1930 when two cousins learned the art of making sparkling espresso from their uncle. The cousins spent the next 10 years developing the recipe and produced what is now BibiCaffè – a southern Italian favorite.

Lucky for you, you don’t have to go to Italy to experience the perfect coffee soda- you can make one in seconds with Sudden. Watch our head of Coffee Umeko Motoyoshi mix up our Sudden Summer favorite:

Here’s everything you need to make a Sudden Soda:

  • Ice
  • Carbonated water
  • One tube of Sudden
  • Simple syrup (optional)
  • Your Choice of whiskey (also optional)

Put some ice in a glass and pour carbonated water over ice. Add your tube of Sudden and stir- it’s that simple! If you like, you can also ad a splash of simple syrup and your favorite whiskey for a delicious summer cocktail.
